Hyatt Business Intelligence Application Architect in CHICAGO, Illinois
Summary The Business Intelligence Application Architect will join a team that is on an upward trajectory to enhance Hyatt's competitive advantage through analytics. This position supports all Hyatt departments in providing accurate and timely reporting and analysis from transactional databases, the Enterprise Data Warehouse (DW), Data Lake (Hadoop & Redshift) and the associated data marts.
BI Architect will be an integral member of the Business Intelligence team and will make intuitive decisions for software development. This includes thinking big and creating architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development team. A candidate who combines strong analytical abilities, the insights to develop reporting and insights from data throughout an organization, and is capable of supporting projects to their successful outcomes with effective communication and interpersonal skills will do well. This position reports to Technical Manager, Business Intelligence
Collaborate with Project Managers and Stakeholders to execute BI (Business Intelligence) & DW (Data Warehouse) projects. This includes outlining specific technical deliverables, provide input to project plans and milestones.
Provide technical leadership for reporting projects with strong data visualization and design skills.
Support the BI environment, providing data, analysis and insight to internal clients throughout enterprise (International, North America, Corporate), including but not limited to Marketing, Revenue Management, Reservations, Gold Passport, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and eCommerce.
Lead key project activities – architecture, design, development, QA/QC and deployment of new BI programs and projects. Communicate project plans and status with stake holders.
Promote and facilitate the development of self-service capabilities for the business in the access and reporting of business information.
Develop technical deliverables and review technical documents.
Lead efforts to define, implement, and consistently exercise information management best practices across the organization. Identify and implement industry best practices. Ensure data integrity of all systems.
Work closely with the IT liaisons and external services providers to improve and optimize global infrastructure for BI to deliver superb performance and end user experience.
Contribute to the design and support of the DW environment, including information & data acquisition, management and delivery solutions

Experience - At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the technical aspects of Business Intelligence projects using Tableau. Previous consulting experience desired. - Extensive expertise and/or demonstrated experience in implementing, operating and supporting enterprise business intelligence applications using Tableau. Experience must include demonstrated skills in data management. - Direct experience with analyzing large volume of data to derive actionable insights and recommendations. - Expereience with large scale (1000 users) Tableau server especially with hospitality industry will be a huge plus. - Hands-on experience in designing data models, schemas, dimensional models, complex reports and dashboards. - Exceptional attention to detail. Excellent organization, planning and project management skills. - Strong quantitative, analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. - Proven ability to influence and work with cross-functional teams. Significant skill required to work effectively across internal functional areas in situations where clear parameters may not exist. - Proven record of being a strong team player - a whatever-it-takes attitude to complete a project successfully for the team. - Strong work ethic and personal integrity; self-directed and self-motivated with a highly developed curiosity and willingness to learn and to teach. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to define and capture business needs along with articulating strategic implications of analytic results with clarity and persuasiveness in an audience appropriate manner.
Education - Masters degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or related discipline.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) certification is a plus. - Tableau Desktop certification is a plus.
Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job - Extensive use of and expertise in Tableau desktop, server and administration - Should have advanced Tableau visualizations development skills. Some of the key skills within Tableau are guided analytics, advanced visualizations (quadrants, bullet charts, multiple marks, etc) and making complex data simple to understand as well as to tell compelling stories - Hands on experience working with Tableau server administration. This includes server and dashboard performance tracking and tuning, executing Tabjolt and prefer to have experience in developing custom data security solutions. - The candidate should have strong knowledge of database concepts and SQL - Performance tuning of reports, dashboards and server loads - Must be capable of handling complex upgrades/migrations and installations - Ability to develop/work in a variety of datasources - Experienced with implementation of LOD calcs, Parameters, Filters, Groups and Sets in Tableau. - Experienced with implementing security for user access to BI content. - Familiarity with databases –IBM DB2, Redshift and Hadoop ecosystem. - Experience with Allteryx is preferred - Hands on experience with programming languages is preferred – Python or other programming language - Familiarity with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
